Common welding related questions that we hear. Part 3

Question 3 about our company and the welding industry in general is rather a broad question: There are a lot of different import welder brands out there, aren’t yours just the same and come from the same company in China?  You are just a reseller of off-the-shelf product aren’t you? Answer: No. The truth is there are a lot of import companies operating out there, many direct shipping welders direct from the factory in multiple names and colors.

In general no brand distinctiveness and all pretty much are built from similar designs and have the same features. But there isn’t just one factory building welding and cutting equipment in China. In fact, there are several hundred welder factories located in China. With that said, Everlast uses a different manufacturing model. With Everlast, we actually build, design and sell exclusive product. We are based in the United States, on the West Coast.

No other company in the North American market produces product in our plant. We work closely with the factory to design and build our distinct product. We foot the bill for testing and extra quality control measures. We send people from North America into the factories during production to ensure quality control and hold regular development meetings in the factory with the factory staff and engineers to iron out kinks in final design and production.

A lot of people continue to perpetuate a stereo type of welder companies from China. But over the last 10 years, a lot has changed with the welder market in the United States and Canada, and even the name brand companies are building product there and having it shipped here only to slap a few large components together and call it “Assembled in the USA”.  While others are building their product in Mexico from Chinese and foreign built components.
