If you are the type of person that wants to know ahead of time exactly what amperage you will max out at before hitting the pedal then I would say that the older style 200DX is not for you. From what I have seen on here the newer 200DX machines have went to the industry standard panel controlled amperage and have done away with the pedal pot. If this is true then I don't see any reason why you shouldn't get the 200DX. Likewise, if the pedal pot is not a problem and they haven't updated the machine it is still a good buy for the bucks.

I just opened my pedal and the black gear on the shaft that turns the pot was slipping. Tightened the set screws and it works great now. the shaft is completely round and the set screw has no leverage. I think this might happen a lot. I'm gonna take it out and grind a land on the shaft, hopefully I won't break anything.

If you search the forum there are a number of foot pedal mods. I don't use a pedal, so I'm lucky there. But for everyday use, you might want to pop it open and add a little strength to it. Should not hurt anything.

You say that to everyone.LOL. But seriously i tried the switch on the power source several times. Also the tungsten, settings, gas, different cup sizes, new collet and body, unplugging the pedal and plugging it back in. Sometimes it will hold an arc but it never goes past 29 amps when set at 125.
