new guy here from Canada

Hello to all from Eastern Ontario - Canada EH !:
I've been lurking here for the last week. My new PowerPro 205 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I studied welding about 45 years ago when I was in school when they had the big heliarc machines. I have done some stick welding over the years but mostly hobby stuff, never really hard core stuff. Bought a Lincoln 180 MIG two years ago and get a lot of use out of it. started with flux core wire but soon bought the 75/25 mix and cylinder, much cleaner and hardly any smoke in my shop. I'm into 30/31 Model A Fords and currently converting a 4 door model into a pick up truck since all the wood was rotten.

After a lengthy time searching for the right TIG to fit my needs and pocket book along with warrantee, I chose the Everlast PowerPro 205 multi process machine
and I'm excited to try it out. I've been studying the on line manual on what the controls do and I think I understand it pretty good, or at least enough to get started.

I have used my MIG on sheet metal for the old Ford project and got pretty good at smooth welds on the thin metal, however I think I can get more control with
a TIG especially when you look at the controls on the TIG.

Yeah - and just look at all the people rushing to Alaska to soak up that nice cool weather! Many of the Canadians I know don't like the cold. Didn't make sense to me until I realized - I met them in Tucson, Arizona. Duh - why are they in Tucson?!

But they come back to the nice clean fresh air and open space. Well there is Alaska gold or Tucson ?????? Oh well we all weld in the cold or heat.

Received my PowerPro 205 yesterday, hooked it up today and this machine is awesome. No damages in shipping, every part accounted for along with extra consumables purchase. Only got to try some of the features in TIG today , laid a few good beads without filler rod only on a lap joint on mild steel. I love the UP/down slope feature.
Thanks to Duncan and Jean at Everlast Canada for making my purchase a pleasant one.

Good on you Trainguy. I just figured out only a year ago that welding was fun. But it was a week ago that i figured out that tigging is the cat a$$. Wish I would have known this years ago.

Where do you hail from? I'm in Cambridge Ontario, myself. Congrats on the new welder. I'm sure it'll give you countless hours of satisfaction through the years. I was thinking of getting a multifunction a when I looked into getting a welder but decided to get a standalone Tig/Stick unit instead.

I'm located in Cumberland Ont., across the river from Gatineau, Que. about a KM from the ferry (as in boat)
Havent operated it today and wont have a chance until the weekend. I've been watching some of Jody's videos, so much to learn, so little time. !!
