Gas fittings - Non-Standard? SuperUltra 205

Greetings!
I am trying to put together a way to have Argon and Air both connected to the inlet on the back of the SU 205. The manual helpfully says
"A manifold system may be made from either ball a T configuration of two ball valves or a Y valve( both customer supplied) to switch between the plasma air input and TIG shielding gas as needed without disconnecting and reconnecting the gas/air lines every time the process is changed. If no switching valve or manifold system is used, then you must manually change the input sup-ply tubing every time you change processes."

I visited my local House of Hose, and they came up with a solution for me. I assumed that the fittings to the back of the machine were standard gas 3/8".

We all know what happens when ya assume.

What is the designation for the fittings used as supplied with the SU 205? They are not standard 3/8" Air.

Alternately, does Everlast supply a solution for my need (having both air and Argon attached simultaneously) or adapters from whatevertheheck to standard?

Thank you zoama. That helps me to avoid having to know what the type or classification is of the supplied connectors. It's a good solution that I'll most likely pursue.

Is there a name or standard nomenclature for the types of connectors that come with the SuperUltra 205?

My local House of Hose didn't have the metric parts needed for this, as I'm in the US and we're a bit Imperial here. While I wanted to go with a T, and ball valves for each line, zoama's solution is not only elegant and simple, but 1/3 of the cost. it cost me about $15 in parts, which is on the high side as I didn't shop around. I needed 2 male QD's, a new female QD, a length of hose, a hose barb, and 2 hose clamps.

Bought the Oil/Water separator on Amazon, but while finding the other parts noticed that I could have purchased the same item locally for a bit more. God Bless Amazon Prime.

I'm going to assume that since there was lots of room when trying to attach the supplied male '3/8' NPT, that it was actually 9mm BSPT. So it's easy to find, and unless corrected by someone, I'm going to make this more searchable.

Connectors for the SuperUltra 205, 2014 edition are not 3/8" but instead 9mm BSPT

I didn't have a perfect fit with the male QD's on the units regulator/filter, but that's what plumbers tape is for. I wouldn't have jury-rigged something with volatile gas.

I just received my SU205 yesterday. I set it up like you did. However, my regulator did not come with the pressure gage shown in your photo. (I just have a plug to go there) Did you add this yourself or is that a change to my "entry level" machine? I would add my own gauge if I knew what thread size to look for.

Since the SU has a front mounted pressure gauge, it makes sense that they left it off the combo regulator/filter on the back.

I realize that there is a pressure gauge on the front..... I was having trouble obtaining 50psi on that gauge... I was curious what the pressure was going into the regulator.... I could increase the output of my air compressor, from 85 psi, 50 feet away, but was afraid of putting too much into the input... Besides, I was curious what the line loss of the 50 foot hose would be....

You want to adjust the pressure while the air is flowing. I feed my PP60 about 80psi to maintain 70 while cutting. With 3/8" hose there shouldn't be any pressure drop over 50 ft.

The plugged port on the regulator is most likely after the regulator, so you won't see input pressure there. Line loss depends on the flow rate and the hose diameter. Typically those miniature regulators are rated to a max. input of 150 psi. For plasma, make sure you have nice dry air with enough flow. You may have received a small flowmeter that goes on your plasma torch to calibrate the pressure setting. You need to check the pressure when the trigger is pulled. Different consumables have different air consumption. Make sure you have enough air while cutting, and that your compressor can keep up.

Tonight I went out and increased my output pressure to 80psi.... I was able to maintain 60 psi on the gauge on the front of the machine..... the plasma cutter would come on.... and begin to sputter.... then it would stop.... the cutter would not restart until the air coming out of the nozzle would shut off..... not sure if I need to increase or decrease the pressure.... but I have high hopes that it would do what I want... most of the metal I will be cutting is very thin.... but it is nice to know I will be able to cut thicker metal if required....
