I use a belt sander flipped upside down with a 120 belt. Works awesome!

Belt sanders are full of aluminum oxide...the very thing you are trying to avoid.

According to several tungsten manufactures, a diamond wheel is the only satisfactory implement to use to sharpen tungsten electrodes.
If you get right down to it.

I am just gonna guess the way I have always sharpened them is a big no-no after reading this thread... I just put it at like a 45degreeish angle in my bench grinder and spin it with my fingers, bad idea?

I think most of us still do it that way, but the grinding stone should at least be dedicated to grinding only your tungstens.

The belt I use for sharpening is actually made from Silicon Carbide. Is it still a bad thing?
