Just adding a little note to follow up,
My 40A two-pole breaker has held up flawlessly for hours and days of welding. In my case here, the wall receptacle is a 50A one, which is nice, and I installed a matching plug onto the welder cord. If I experience any tripping with it I will change it out, and make sure the wiring is 6 gauge to boot.
