    Default Problem with cutting.

This is with a PP256, but specifically the cutter part.

Neighbor brought over a shaft off of his lawn mower, and just wanted the pulley off of it.

Another flange was in the way to get it on the press, so he wanted me to cut it.

So I cut it in one place, it started going through it like butter, but then hit a spot it would not cut. I would move the torch to the side, and it would cut fresh metal, but not this one spot. I moved down a inch, and cut through it in no time.

    The shaft was about 3/4"

    Any ideas?

    Oleg,
I doubt its the torch as it cut the shaft just fine if I would move it out of this area, and it cut all the way through it just a inch down.

I didn't know if it was something I did, or what, just seemed odd, there was just this one spot of metal that wouldn't cut.

Although the only consumables for plasma(actually period) that I have are what came screwed to the torch, thanks to UPS.

a plasma won't go through the rust so well, perhaps you had a large flake of rust.

No rust where I was cutting, but there was oil on the shaft that I cleaned off, but where is stopped cutting on the shaft was in the center.

    Slick,
Unless there was a non conductive center or a shaft of grease...I can't think of any reason.

probably some non conductive material, thats all I can think of, the pulley ended up self destructing while pressing the shaft out anyway.
