Smoked 255EXT Fan
A weird thing happened to my 255EXT this morning. I was trying to finish up a welding project for a customer I was hoping to drop off tomorrow. I had to reposition the fixture so I turned off the welder. After about 15 minutes or so I turned the unit back and all of a sudden, the fans started spooling faster than normal and no display. Immediately, I turn the unit off but before I reached for the switched some smoke came out the back.
Of all times for this to nose dive! I checked my connections, waited for a few minutes, and turned it back on. This time the display is on and seemed to be responsive to any buttons I push but looks like one fan is blown and the other three are spinning much slower than normal.
I've been using Everlast welders for the past 7 years and they have been very reliable. I'll call tech support tomorrow but didn't know if anyone can shed some light on what could have caused this. Also, I was wondering if anything I can check? I have an electrical engineering background so I'm pretty savvy with electronics.
Thanks!
