Dead old '2 knob' 240 volt only 210EXT
Hi,
I haven't used my tig machine 210EXT in a couple of years. When I attempted to, I could not strike an arc. The high frequency works well, but it won't strike an arc. I checked gas, and purged everything, I have gas. But I cannot get the IGBT (or whatever 'does' the high amperage switching) to work.
When I turn the HF off, I can just BARELY strike an arc, and it's the smallest 'arc' I have ever worked with, probably at the far minimum of what the welder will 'do'.
I switched out my TIG set up to stick welding (moving ground cables, etc.) and I cannot strike an arc that way either. I'm using a 1/8" 7018 at about 140 amps and cannot even get a little glow or ANYTHING out of the machine.
I hope this is the right place to post this:
I know it's out of warranty, but I'd like to get it fixed if possible (and it's not TOO expensive) It really doesn't have many 'miles' on the rig, I got it just for my hobbies. I purchased it around between 2005 to 2010 and it's the 2 knob version that only accepts 220 volt.
It would REALLY be nice if I could be 'talked through' series of troubleshooting diagnostics to find out what/where it is broken, and I could purchase that part and repair it myself.
