Thread: Powerarc 200sti Having trouble running e6010 electrodes.

  1. Default Powerarc 200sti Having trouble running e6010 electrodes.

Hello. I recently bought the Powerarc 200sti stick welder. I purchased it because it has the capability of running e6010 electrodes. I have been using Lincoln Electric fleetweld 5p+ 1/8 e6010’s with it. Most of the time the arc keeps going out every few seconds. The odd time I can run a full rod without the arc going out. Very rare though. It’s very frustrating. I run the rode from 75 amps to 120 amps. The arc force is set between 60 to 100. The higher the settings the rod is very violent. Not sure if I need to try another e6010 brand or if my settings are wrong.

The the electrode holder that came with it was damaged so I purchased a tweco 250 amp electrode holder. Not sure what to do. I watch YouTube videos and on weld.com channel they seem to run e6010 electrode very nice using POWERARC 161STH machine. Maybe I should buy the POWERARC 210STL? Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Just one post is sufficient. See my reply to the other post you made. My thoughts are along trying a different/better brand.

    Apologies.

A couple of things you should keep in mind. Keep the rod buried. Don't take it out of the puddle. Make sure you have the work clamp directly connected to the part being welded.

What rod are you using in this case?

Hey. Thanks for the reply. Like I said in my first post. I am using 3/32 and 1/8 Lincoln electric fleetweld 5p+. I run the 1/8 between 80 to 115 amps. Arc force between 60-85. Machine runs from a 240v outlet using 8 awg extension cable. I updated to a lenco 250 amp electrode holder and lenco 300amp brass ground clamp. I also ordered bigger awg electrode and ground clamp cable. Hasn?t arrived yet. Is there any other good 6010 brands. Thanks.

ESAB atom arc is one that comes highly recommended by several that have tried it.
