Default 221 STI AC Not Good

I purchased a 221 STI a little over a year ago. First Arc strike was not good even on DC. Acted as if I did not have enough shielding gas. I talked to tech and sure enough the line was not pushed all the way up into the solenoid causing a leak inside the machine. I repaired that. DC is flawless. AC is not good at all no matter what I try. I have a 250 EX and it is great no issues at all so I know I dont have an issue with gas nor torch. It seems as if can not get AC balance low enough. Im at 30 and that give the best results but still really really dirty. I just pulled the machine off the shelf where it has been sitting for almost a year because of this and I have been using my 250. If I cant get this machine to work properly on AC I see no reason to have it. I love my 250 but I purchased this machine as a multi use unit. I need to get this fixed.

Do you have the work in the red terminal? Torch is in negative?

    Yeah,

That immediately came to mind in reading the post, that the Everlast AC/DC TIG-MIG multi units have a separate ground terminal for AC TIG.

Please let us all know if that simple point solves your problem, as that 221STi is a real innovation in the welding world.

    Well,

The OP seems to have figured it out, judging by his abandonment from the thread already.

I mean, that AC Ground for TIG is not something typically seen.
