chosing PowerMTS 275 or..?????
POWER MTS 275
Looks like everlast is the only option for canadians due to features and price. can't be beat.
I'm looking to buy the PowerMTS 275 Lightning on my July 31st pay date.
I'm not a TIG expert but I plan to be for the rest of my remaining years. I want the best machine possible.
Are we certain that this unit only going down to 20amps AC TIG will not limit my abilities to TIG weld anything I want?
Are the PowerTIG units much better at TIG welding? Are there any extremely versatile and experienced TIG welders here that could clearly explain to me if and how significantly better the PowerTIG units are over the MTS 275?
You might be wondering what I want to do.
I want to be able to do everything possible TIG and awesomely without regretting not having bought a better TIG unit. Artwork, bicycle frames, fences, automotive, etc.
What about the stick Welding abilities? the website doesn't say much. Are there any limitations and how significant are they?
Is this a USA forum?
If and when I order the 275 are there options to switch out the torches for better torches instead with price difference fee?
Are there recommended torches instead of the included torches?
Thank you kindly for your consideration.

Well,
The Power MTS 225 looks like a real winner that can't be beat, too, for price, value, features, performance, warrantee.on the whole North American continent.
Torches, whips, and other extraneous items or consumables are non-proprietary, so there's no problem there.
Both MTS Lightening models have more that just one, standard AC waveform beyond Squarewave, by including a Triangle waveform, which I like for thinner aluminum. So, these MTS models are not just full-featured TIG units, they're more like a true advanced-featured TIG unit, too. Not speaking as an expert, but Triangle wave inherently reduces heat input, so the amp setting is usually set higher than when using a Squarewave, so these MTS units (like my 210EXT) are as adept as any for thinner aluminum AC welding.

oh wow. thank-you so much. that is a fantastically helpful comment. that settles that.

Here,
Watch this one and have a ball!

its exactly because of this video I believe the 275MTS is probably the best all round welder in the world for its price. do you have a suggestion for what is the best torch head?
-
Yeah,
The MTS225 or MTS275 are undoubtedly the best-game-in-town, so to speak.
I currently use a cheap flex head WP 17 that's as good as the CK stuff, and is probably made in factories in the same Asian provinces. But the CK Worldwide stuff is still priced two or three times as much as the generic stuff.
Otherwise, if I were wanting to upgrade from a rigid torch head, I'd probably opt for the Everlast/NOVA Roto-Style torch head, which are still somewhat generic and cost about half or a third of what CK Worldwide charges.
But I do use the air-cooled 17 torch with a CK pistol-style, hand amptrol device, which does keep my hand cooler, since the torch isn't directly in hand. So, I've never really wanted a water cooled torch or cooler.

Gee,
I just re-reviewed this Comparison Chart. If you haven't seen it, it's worth looking at.

this is under sales presales questions. Everlast employees view this to help customers? but i see this is a USA forum so I'm out of luck maybe.
I see the MTS275 Lightning is no longer in stock here in Canada. Not sure if there will be any when I have enough money as planned for August 27th.
I really don't think there is anything on the market anywhere near comparable.
I'm pretty terrible with money and if the 275MTS is not available when I get the $4000 canadian saved up, I just might get the powertig 325 EXT instead and get a MIG later, maybe the I-MIG 275 for $2500. what a waste of money that would be though instead of the MTS right?
It would be good to know when there will be more units in stock

Gee,
Phone Everlast directly at their S.F. location:
Toll Free
877 755 WELD
877 755 9353
And that MTS Lightening 225 is about $500 less than the MTS 275.
The 255EXT as a standalone, advanced-featured TIG unit is undoubtedly the best value and a proven performer at 250 amps in North America.
Otherwise, just order what you really want, when you have the funds, and the unit will undoubtedly be back in-stock pretty quickly.
