255ext pulse issue?
Greetings all,
I joined this forum after reading threads for a couple days in hopes I might be able to find some help. I searched high and low but haven't seen a topic with this issue specifically.
My machine is an everlast 255ext with 300 cooler. Standard ground clamp, SSC controls pedal, and a ck torch.
This machine has been my workhorse since i bought it new in 2016, Its been a flawless machine with no real issues, however Ive noticed lately that the pulse feature is doing some odd things.
I am welding dc-en and can provide pulse parameters if need be,
The issue im experiencing is the machine output amps cutting in pulse mode. Without pulse on the machine provides smooth stable arc, with very consistent amp output.
However in pulse mode, I start a weld, and anywhere from shortly after striking an arc, to 5-10 minutes after welding the output amps reduces significantly, (as much as 50%)
My main example would be a 3" joint fitted, root pass without pulse laid without issue (straight current, amps very consistent) then go for the second pass and I may be lucky and get the whole pass done in pulse with consistent amps, however often I get a 1/4-1/2 of the way through the pass and the amps drop 50% or more.
I have tried switching pedals, thinking the pot on the ssc was damaged, no change
I have tried numerous ground clamp changes thinking ground was an issue.
Torch seems fine, and again in straight non pulse dc-en the arc is consistent, amp output maintains exactly what i have my dial set to.
Lastly there is no rhyme or reason to this, sometimes I turn the machine off, give it a minute or two and turn it back on and its back to normal, however often turning it off and on does nothing.
There is no duty cycle light on, In fact Ive never seen that light on in the entire time Ive owned the machine.
Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
kevin
