Thread: PowerTIG 210EXT

  1. Default PowerTIG 210EXT

Hi, I joined about a yer ago and was looking to make a purchase. Then life events changed that. Now that things are back on track I'm once again shopping and considering a PowerTIG 210EXT. Can anyone tell me the difference in torches and pedal in the upgrade package? The flex cable is obvious but are there other differences? Also will cups and collets from CK interchange with the Nova torch? Thanks

    Well,

Nice that things are better again for you, as it's a great time to be in the welder unit marketplace, since Everlast provides the best-values in virtually every welder unit they sell, that I notice as a mere retail customer and Everlast user.

Over five years ago, I bought the 210EXT, while also upgrading to an SSC pedal, CK UltraFlex hose, torch, and SafeLoc connector.

Everlast now has that $100 upgrade that would have saved me a bunch. The NOVA pedal is undoubtedly the same quality as the SSC (maybe made by SSC too), excepted with a slightly different potentiometer (Japanese), and both are undoubtedly better than the standard pedal. The hose and torch consumables are undoubtedly the same quality and consistency as the CK ones, but the Everlast hose doesn't use a separate clam-shell Dinse/gas connector, which was an extra cost on the CK torch assemblies.

TIG torch consumables on Everlast, NOVA, and CK Worldwide are interchangeable.

I generally try to avoid CK Worldwide stuff, even though I've got a bunch of it, because CK charges higher prices for the same quality as other Asian-produced TIG torch components. And CK, in the past, provided no real way to buy a ROTO/FLEXLOC-style TIG torch without a hose assembly, making getting a ROTO torch alone over $100, even if you bought it as parts alone. But now, after some years, and with Everlast selling standalone ROTO TIG torches, CK seems to be following that trend, since it now has competition in that proverbial arena, even though the CK FLEXLOC is still priced at about double the Everlast/NOVA one.

So, yeah, if you buy a 210EXT, that $100 upgrade kit is a winner.
