Thread: Drag cutting with iPT60 of PP205si

  1. Default Drag cutting with iPT60 of PP205si

Need help with Plasma drag cutting using iPT60(?) torch that comes with PP205si.

Manual is not clear on whether torch that comes with PP205si can be used without standoff, to do drag cutting. Supposedly, newer versions of Plasma cutting torches are designed to work as drag torches without shorting out machine.

If I want to do drag cutting with templates (ovals, rectangles, odd shapes), will iPT60 torch work without stand-off?

Do I need to buy drag cups with screw on drag shields, and special tips?

And if yes, where can I buy drag parts that fit plasma torch of PP205si (Amazon?).
Search of Everlast's consumables, parts, and plasma torches turned up nothing.

    Thanks in advance.

You can buy consumables that fit for drag cutting from Plasmadyn. Just look them up and give them a call.

    Will do.
After lots of WWW searching, only thing I came up with was some drag cutting cups/tips/shields being sold on Ebay that are supposedly made in Italy for Everlast 50s & 60s plasma torches (IPT-60).

    Thanks again!

I had the same question. I contacted Everlast out of Hamilton Ont., who is outstanding I might add and they have said as long as you purchase consumables compatible with your torch, you are fine. I have a 205SI with IPT60 torch and she said there was no issues with quality aftermarket consumables. I also asked if a drag tip would damage the machine or void warranty and the answer was no.

    Hope this helps.

Here in the USA, we have a different opinion. We have found varying tolerances and design being sold. We do not advise any other than genuine tecmo and innotec replacement parts. Do not pay attention to copied nomenclature. Ask to see if it is genuine. It's a good way to get bad performance and damage to your torch. Tecmo does produce drag tips for the torches and those are available only through genuine Tec.mo dealers such as Georgesplasmacuttershop.com. Out side of that, you will have problems with consumable wear, operation (dealing with that today) or damage due to using non OEM parts.
