Shook the rust off and actually did a little welding today. Made a couple of small parts for some UTVs. Cut up some .095" wall square tube and some .25" plate.



Clamped up to tack with Fireball mini mega square. I'm finding these things pretty handy. They get into a lot of places where other clamping systems just don't fit. Still waiting to assemble new welding table, so I need something to hold things square on the portable table.



Left a pretty good gap so I could sink the welds near flush on the sides and have most of the reinforcement on the inside of the tubing.That way just an optional kiss with a flap disc and ready to paint. Add a filet on the inside and round over the outside corner joint. Weld out the plate, too.

And time to install.





Inspector came over to check. Made one in 1.25" and one in 2" for the different front receivers. Still have one more to do, when that unit is around. Kubota changes things every few years, so none of these interchange. At least these two share a wheel hub pattern. The newest one changes that, too.



It sure would be nice to have the clickable thumbnail system working again. It is a royal PITA to work with photos the way things are right now.

Lately, my pic uploads to a thread have been unopened images, that took a click and a new window to see each one.

You have to upload and then manage attachments under "go advanced" then select and drag images to insert on line 1,2,3 etc.

Very good craftsmanship. One tool I don't have is a good tubing bender. I have a pipe bender, but that kind of flat spots/kinks the tubing if it is too light. It would cut down on mitering a good bit.

I remember how nice it was when you could just have nice inline thumbnails that linked to the full size images. Those were the days.

Northern Tool Dry Cut Saw
I was going to post an update on this saw, but since they discontinued it, meh. A few people on this forum have them with no complaints.
I did a review when I got it that you can find HERE
Since then I tuned up the vise a bit. I really like the saw.

Try a Makita blade. I found those did quite a bit better than other brands back when I used an abrasive chop saw.

Thanks Rambozo I'll have to give one a try. I thought about buying a saw that use's a metal blade. I have a Milwaukee hand held circular steel saw it cuts pretty fast considering it looks like it has a wood blade on it.

I am just drifting through the threads... I have one of these. I like it and it works nice. It is not a pro saw, but I have used it a fair amount.If you do a lot of cutting I would switch to the higher count tooth blade. This a general purpose blade, but I have made a lot of cuts with it. The biggest drawback is when you change the cut from 90 to 45 and back, you need a square to get it correct. The plus it was a pretty good price. I think I got the best price by buying through Menards online and had it shipped to me. (if I remember correctly)

Oh BTW A couple tips on using a cold saw to make the blade last. Make sure your work is secure, if the piece jumps it will break teeth. Every broken tooth on the blade was from something that moved. Cut slow and don't force. Also when starting a cut, try to start cutting on an edge, not a flat. IE on on square stock start on a corner not a flat. Sometimes that is hard to do. Just something the saw people said makes the blades last longer. (Blade runs cooler???)
