Thread: 325ext major arc problems and some tig

  1. Default 325ext major arc problems and some tig

Hey all I first set this machine up to do some tig welding. It work ok when I had it dialed it. Wasent very happy but it welded. I weld a lot of aluminum and stainless. First off let me say that the ac Balance dosent work very well. My machine sucks there is only one spot it won't burn up my tungsten. Next issue I'm having is with arc welding. It doesn't like 6010 or 7018 whatsoever. I pipe weld all day at work for 12 hours then get home to do a weekend project and can't dial this thing in for the life of me. If anyone has any suggestions or same problems please let me hear some suggestions. Thanks

First, the unit doesn't weld 6010. It does not have a 6010 setting like the 255EXT.
Second, I suspect you have either the wrong polarity for the TIG torch or you are setting the wrong balance setting. You may also be using the wrong tungsten.
As far as 7018, it should weld very well. What is your torch polarity, hot start settings and arc force setting? What is the problem you are seeing?
Also have you read the manual or downloaded it from our website?

Can you post some pictures of the welds. The 7018 should work fine.

Please post pictures of everything relevant... tungsten damage, panel setup, lead connections, welded samples, etc.

    Yeah,

The Everlast units have the AC Balance opposite that of others, e.g., 30% is EP (cleaning) or 70% EN, and so 70% is EP (cleaning, too much for tungsten), not 30% EP.

Set AC Balance at 30%. Sharpen your tungsten to a point. Give it 15 CFH of Argon with a #6 or 7 cup and have a ball!
