Adjusting wire feed speed - MTS 211si

Can wire feed speed be changed while welding without damaging the machine? Have not tried to do it out of concern that doing it would damage the unit. Want to try it to do a better job of getting settings correct, and watched a video that suggested doing it this way. Thanks.

These aren't tapped machines. The risk of causing damage is while switching between the taps and burning up the contacts...or at least that is my understanding of it. It shouldn't hurt our units.
