Thread: 50P quite on me.

  1. Default 50P quite on me.

I have a 50 P that is under warranty, but if there was something I could do to get it back up that would be better than the shipping, repair/replace, return shipping.

I have two driers inline (one at compressor, another that came with it on the back of the cutter. I was using the cutter and everything was fine, and a few minutes later went to use it and there was no spark Pilot arc or anything. The readout still suggests a setting of 0-50A, the switch engages on torch and air solenoid opens, but no spark. Unit was replaced for a similar failure a few months back. I can't figure out if I'm doing something to cause this or if the 50P is a high-failure item in this manner?

I have verified continuity on torch and no shorts. I verified intake power to be correct 220V. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Default

    Gee,

If it were me, I'd at least begin by looking under the hood, to check the boards for any obvious sign of blown circuitry. And make sure to wait a good while for the capacitors to have released their energy before poking around in there.

    Peace,
    C. Livingstone
