Followed several forums for a while but mostly this one. Got a new MTS211Si a few weeks ago after my old Schumacher Mig unit got too cranky to deal with anymore. I also use gas for brazing and some welding but mostly the Mig with flux core. Small projects and repairs but a few big projects are on the horizon so I needed a better welder. Ran some new flux wire through the 211 to get a feel and it's awesome. Slowly setting up the Tig function. I got some Argon the other day and some tungsten electrodes, still need to get some welding wire. Slow going this time of year, lot of other things going on.
I also got the welding cart cause my old one was crowded with both the plasma cutter and 211 on it. Now I realize I'm no better off with the new cart. It's a little to wonky for my taste with everything loaded on it so I refurbished my old cart and painted it to match the 211. I now need to build a platform and anchor for the Argon bottle since I never had one on it before. Mig flux only, now I gotta learn Tig. The cart is an old surplus oscilloscope cart which used to hold giant Tektronix cathode ray scopes that weighed 60 to 70 pounds. I'll use the Everlast cart for the plasma cutter and all its junk. Its a new Hypertherm Powermax30 Air which replaced an ancient Powermax 190c. Both of which ave built in air compressors. The 30 Air is far and above the 190c which was barely adequate for sheet metal. The 30 Air can sever 3/8 on 120 volts or 5/8 on 240.
Lots of good information here so I'll keep hanging out.
