  1. Default imig200

I've said this on several other venues but I want to add a comment in the testimonial area. I bought an imig 200 a couple of years ago and modified it to use a Miller 30A gun. The original concept was a machine that can run aluminum for the times I'm called for a small job that is remote. This is not a shop machine as the duty cycle is to low but for my purposes it has been outstanding. Mind you, it has the stones to weld 1/2" material at its top end but you really have to watch the time. The arc quality is very good with AL wire and on stick, frankly, it is one of the best welders I've ever used using 3/32 rod. In one load I can pack the welder, gun and extension cord. The 2nd load is the argon cylinder.

I have many machines 255EXT 210EXT 250P, 205P, PP50, PP80, etc. All great machine, but the IMIG200 was always a favorite if you read many of my posts. We kept it for aluminum mainly with a spool gun on it. If you stay in the duty cycle, this machine will not let you down. And the light weight and able to run on a 5500 watt generator makes you a mobile welder. If you take CO2 type tanks, do not lay them on their side. Mobile aluminum you can lay the argon tanks flat.

Had to chime in as this is one of my favorite machines. I bought mine for my youngest son to start with years ago.

I am back for a few day and then back on the road again for a few more weeks I only used a IMIG200 once and it work quit well but you still can't find a better all-round machine then the MTS250S and it work very well with a Miller 30A Spool gun thanks to Yofish to make it work with the 30A.

I'm no electronic guru but, I do know the amp of the breaker has something to do with the duty cycle of the Imig 200. When I used mine on a 30 amp breaker I could bump the duty cycle. I carried it to a friend's shop and welded all day on a 50 amp breaker; I never hit the duty cycle, & that was the most I had used that machine in one day.

The newer model IMIG200 has more power than the older model. We've had both, the old one would run on the 5500 Porter Cable no problem (180-190 amp range from the welder). New model, the generater would strugle at max amps (volts). So a 5500 is a little small and that is in the 25-27amp range +/-. So it is right on the line at 30 amps, or was for us. I have a PC 10000 but too heavy to move around. I like the new model better, but the old one paid for itself many times over and mobile was nice.

Also, I have seen breaker go bad (get weak). We lost a 50amp dedicated to a welder.
