Thread: At this point it's looking like my welder is likely lost in shipping!

  1. Default At this point it's looking like my welder is likely lost in shipping!

After a very long and frustrating delay, I received my notice from UPS that the pickup scan was done on Friday morning (May 29), and was scheduled for delivery today. Unfortunately, unless there is a minor miracle, that's not going to happen.

UPS tracking only shows the pickup scan, and never shows the package actually arriving at or departing from one of their shipping terminals. No in-transit scans, and no out-for-delivery scans.

A couple of questions... First, does UPS physically scan the package when it is picked up, or do they just scan a master list for a bunch of packages that are picked up?

Second, if UPS cannot locate the package, what do we do next?

As I said earlier, this has been a very long and frustrating process for me, but I'd really like to get the PT210EXT and accessories I ordered. That having been said, if this goes on much longer, I will ask for a refund or have to get my credit card company involved.

We have no problem issuing you a refund and will in the morning. I don't have any idea what could have happened. If UPS says it was picked up it should be. They've been scanning things individually now when they get it, so its likely their system hasn't updated and the fault rests with them. Things happen beyond our control. Getting a charge back on something that was shipped right away doesn't do anyone any good. I'd advise you to get in touch with ext 201 asap in the morning to figure this out.

That's a regular thing with ups, it's happened to me many times. I'd bet your machine gets delivered tomorrow.

Well, Everlast has summarily cancelled my order for the PT210EXT, and it appears they have banned me as a customer for complaining about the month of delays and excuses, and then inquiring about the possibility that the shipment might have been lost by UPS.

I was really looking forward to receiving the welder, but it now looks like that will never come to pass since Oleg has said he doesn't want to sell me anything.

I suppose I could post the litany of events in this unfortunate, failed transaction, but I don't see the point. This is an Everlast-sponsered forum, and they can easily disappear anything I put up here. I will admit that in a private e-mail to Oleg, I did accuse them of dishonesty in this transaction (after the order was summarily cancelled), but I have never posted anything like that here in the forum.

If I have said anything here in the forum that was offensive, please point it out to me and I'll apologize, since this is not the place for that kind of conversation.

I wish the forum members, Everlast customers, and the Everlast team all the best. The products Everlast sells appear to be excellent, but my personal customer service experience was, well, just the pits. At least it looks like I'll get my money back.

    Farewell, I suppose.

When I purchased my first machine from Everlast I was use to doing business with big retailers and gave Oleg hell because every little thing wasn't perfect. Turns out I was wrong and Oleg has been very kind and gone well out of his way to help me with anything I've needed. Give the man a chance and you'll see.

Kind of hard to do when he was the one that cancelled the order and, basically told me I was banned as a customer.

He's a man same any other. I made him angry on our first deal and he reacted. Try to see it from his perspective, how would you react if you were doing all you could and the customer threatens a charge back? We're all human.

I don't want to get into the entire series of events here, it's just too tiresome. I think I was always clear that disputing the charge with my credit card company was a very last resort, which I would use only after I had requested the order be cancelled (which I never did). The last straw for Oleg, apparently, was my request that they help locate the shipment by contacting UPS from their end, and a simple question about what the Pickup Scan procedures were with UPS.

Yes, I was frustrated by a series of delays, with excuses that sounded to me a lot like the classic "dog ate my homework." After all that, to have my order cancelled upon asking for help finding an apparently lost shipment, what was I to think?

I see your point as well. Maybe there was a misunderstanding along the line that could be worked out by speaking to him again. I hope things work out and you can become the happy owner of a new 210ext.

Well, this saga is about at an end. With a couple more e-mails and a phone call, we've pretty well ironed out our differences, and agreed to go our separate ways for now. The machine I ordered still appears to be lost in the UPS system, and the order is cancelled. I still believe the PT210 to be an excellent value, but won't be buying one for now. Oleg was kind enough to offer a do-over of the terrific deal, but I've declined. Welding is just a hobby/maintenance thing for me, and I can get by with my existing MIG and (ancient) Stick machines for now.

I'll continue to visit the Everlast forum, but it may be a few months before I start looking again at getting a new TIG machine.
