Cut Off saw recommendations?

UPS finally delivered it Late tonight. Haven't had a chance to take it out of the box. Has an Auxiliary Clamp to be used when cutting on the Upstroke. Guess that means the back half of the blade due to the rotation. Its Heavy. Weighs about 62 pounds.

It said 60 lbs on the page. That is heavy. Not so portable I guess. Keep us posted on how you like it. They are still out of stock.

I was going by the UPS label. But then in another spot it stated, 47 pounds. Did come with ALOT of extra cardboard reinforcement.

Kevin Caron did a video on this saw. I watched it on my Android phone the other day

Maybe I'll try it on that piece of Scrap from the Metal shop. Try to square up the ends.

I am starting to use it to make my cart. Currently working on the Lower Frame. Seems OK. Dewalt gave me a used blade. Didn't have the print on the side. Throwing Sparks and Metal. I would recommend an Apron/Work coat, Hearing protection. Face Shield. Loud. About as loud as a Chop Saw for wood. Maybe a little louder. Have to use a Square to get my angles correct. The supplied gauge has some play in it.

Sounds like you might have gotten a dull blade. The carbide tips are wider than the blade disc, so if used properly, there should be little to no rubbing on the sides of the blade. Mine has a few hundred cuts and pretty much has all the blade printing intact. Also very few sparks, almost none when it was new, but a few now that the blade is slightly worn. For sure it does throw hot metal chips. Here is a comparison between a dry cut and an abrasive saw on 1" x .120" wall square tube.

Its not throwing like the abrasive one. Little more than the carbon blade. I contacted Dewalt. Waiting for their response.

A reman really should come with a new blade. Especially considering the cost of those blades.

I forgot to Warn. It will "Kick back" small pieces. Had to chase down a few that was thrown behind the machine. Fortunately I had open space behind where I was cutting.

Mine has an adjustable brace to hold small off cuts, while I don't use it often, it can be useful. Maybe see if you are missing any pieces.

Mine has a deflector that swivels up and down slightly. Sits mostly behind the blade. Easy fix.

I am sorry you are having trouble with your blade. Most of the retailers do not include a blade with the refurbished units. Your best bet would be checking with the retailer to see if they list the blade as included.

Refurbs are usually only supported by the seller, not the original manufacturer. See what Tyler says, then decide about return, bite the bullet for a new blade, or live with what you have.

Jake here has recommended a refurb dealer called Big Sky Tools, that has been great. I've bought a few things from them and been very happy. They grade their refurbs, A B C, so you know what to expect. I got a few refurb 4.5" grinders that would totally pass for new.

Last refurbished tool I bought was from the Makita Repair Center. And they supplied me with a New blade.

Same here, so Ditto on BigSky. The Hitachi 4.5" grinders I bought looked new and came with cases, tools and grinding wheels.

Just saw this device to make an angle grinder into a little chop saw. Looks interesting and it's on sale for $26 with free shipping for a while. I know I've seen something like this before and thought about making something from time to time. Not sure it will get much use, but at this price, I'll give it a try for the odd small repeat cuts or something to leave set for 45°. I know I have seen something like this for a portaband, but a lot more $. Maybe I'll have to make that one.

Yeah I saw that today as well. I deal with northern Tools every so often. Did you read the Reviews? They're saying its good for cuts that don't need to be precise. But can be adjusted. Wonder if it will work with my Makita 9564CV? Looks like it would be better for the small things. Better than the Dewalt 14" monster I bought.

I had that little Northern Tools grinder attachment in the cart, went off after the paypal but before the CLICK ORDER. It timed out. I aborted. Like said, can not make it for the price. Anyone have one and like it? Max cut on round tubing?
