    Default Trailer repair project

Hi all I have a new repair project it's a 16ft car trailer.
Needs some work but price was right. A couple of the 2x4 by3/16 tubing is soft I have pounded away at a few areas and made a few holes. Any problems in cutting out the bad areas and patching in some metal?
I'd like to save as much metal/ work as I can . I will have to replace several cross members
Here's a couple of pics the holes are about 1-2" diameter Click image for larger version.

If it's rusted out and is load bearing, you should cut out the tubing and replace it, rather than just patching it up. The whole piece could be just as thin from internal rust. Looks like it had water standing in it. With tubing construction, it either has to be 100% water tight, or needs drain holes.

In addition to drain holes, I swab the inside of non-watertight tubes with cold galvanizing.
