Default New here from San Diego

    Hello,

New to this forum but not new to welding. My metal/welding experience started watching my Dad Oxy-Acetylene a trailer with a coat hanger (horrible welds). At 16 years old I took a basic welding class in school, I instantly fell in love with gas welding. From that point on welding/metal fab has always been a small part of my life. I have always kept metal working as a "side" job, I have never let it turn into "work".

I am looking to buy a new TIG welder (this is why I originally joined this forum). A 250EX is probably in the near future.

    Thanks,

Welcome! Your OA experience will transition well to TIG since the torch / filler rod motions are similar. Have you used a TIG welder before? The 250EX is a workhorse, for sure.

    Oops, forgot a few details.

I just sold my Miller Diversion 165, it performed as it was meant to. I am not hating on Miller at all, I just need to step up and get more Duty Cycle + Power.

You will get that with the 250EX. Sorry they diverted you

I currently do not have a 250EX, but have used one for a long time, and Oleg has one in the queue for me. I currently have the 255EXT, but for the lesser cash, the 250EX is the ultimate deal on POWER, SIZE, PRICE... For a single phase AC/DC TIG of course.

Hmm, this kind of worries me.

I can't just order + receive a unit when I order one? What is the typical waiting period?

Typically you order, it gets shipped, you receive, end of story. "One in the queue" for Mike, who is part of the Everlast support structure, *may* mean there is a plan to ship one to Mike for evaluation, or just to become familiar with the machine for ongoing customer support.

There have been instances when demand temporarily outstrips supply, best to call the office in San Francisco to get the current situation.

I work for Everlast so I get a machine when stock is heavy and also I'm in no rush. Oleg is always the customers come first and so are the rest of us..

Also, I do have a 210EXT and 255EXT, thought I mentioned that in my post. I'm getting it when Oleg is caught up only because I like that model a lot. Miss my old one (sold it) since they are easy to sell.

What DaveO stated is very true in 99% of the cases. But this time it's just I want to have one for me again It is a great machine. You will like it.

All of that makes sense, & the 250EX sounds like a great machine.

I look forward in read about others experiences with the 250EX.
