200 dx welding stick problems

hey all, has any one that owns a everlast power tig 200 dx ever used it in stick mode? ive done tons of stick welding on other machines but oddly when i tried this unit for stick the electrodes would turn orange while welding :S Can any one shed some light on why this would happen? using 1/8 7018 on dc positive

No reason to look at the machine,,,,more likely the rods are contaminated...7018 rods can suck up moisture really fast...the change of color is probably due to sweating out...as you use them..
