Which seems to be getting delayed later and later...They fix one thing and they break another or deny that it ever worked in the first place....Combined with this and the fact I am trying to get a new laptop broken in with w8...I am just trying to understand this philosophy. It seems that the people who designed W8 were teeny boppers...not business professionals. They use words like "charms" or "forget this" etc. Why create a new lingo that is unprofessional, and try to sell it to professionals? It seems that our web designers have grown up in that type culture though...imprecise, close is good enough etc. I'm upgrading right now to 8.1 which is supposed to relieve some of the other issues. I love the new computer. Fast, easy to type on...loads of capability compared to the old one. I'm not putting the W7 machine away, but retiring it for lighter house duty. Just have to take the bite and either get office 2013 or find the old disks on 2010. Not going to put things on "the cloud". Stupidest thing I can think of...short sighted and not loaded with potential security issues and long term storage problems.

Windows 8 is not bad when you learn a couple tricks (F4 alt-F4, etc) and make it looks like Win7 again (tap lower right screen too. Also there is a $5 hack to make it look like Win7.

I agree 100% on the cloud, the old Attorney Client Priv. is gone now, all your data is owned by them. Also, I can hear it now, I can not get to you files at the moment, someones server is down or my internet connection is down.. hahahaha..

I have the 2010 disk if you need a copy. Lost my serial numbers though.

If there are any other color changes on the forum (since I only saw the main page) let me know and I will flip them. Save on the forum skinning side/bill. Maybe get a refund

Far as lingo, call virgin mobile, they have cleaned it up, but it used to make me mad, a hip computer voicemail machine, Cloie or something like that...

FYI, used the 255EXT for a couple hours yesterday, everything was great, just wish it had a hidden menu to bump up the HF power. I almost have the scratch start it. My eyes are not all the good anymore and my son was at school so I had to weld it and get close to get the arc going.

    Mike,
I may get with you if this 8.1 upgrade goes sour. I like this new s855d Toshiba laptop. Wasn't sure about the AMD, because everyone I've had has had issues. But people are swearing by them now. Aluminum case is cool. I've stepped down from a 17.3 inch monitor to a 15.6. There's a difference, but I got tired of lugging that heavy weight and its extended battery around. And when I traveled it was like carrying a chunk of fire wood around through airports etc. With the weaker eyes, I was worried, but it's not too bad, and I can always increase the size. It was a deal I could not pass up. Half price...nearly.

As far as the hf...bump up the start amps a little. In this application, this works like the background transfer amps on the 210ext for better arc initiation. The lower the start amps, typically, the closer you'll need to hold the tungsten.

Let me know Windows or Office if you need a backup set.

You know what, I did have the start amps all the way down... Will give that a shot. I thought it was odd, last few times it sparked right off. AC mode as well.

You could always reformat and run windows 7 64 bit if you're willing to spend a few more bucks. That also gets rid of all the garbage that comes in a pre-installed OS.
Can you right click and rename links in W8 ?
Did your new machine come with an ssd ? If not and you choose to add one, Samsung is the way to go since they're reliable, don't rely on compression and Samsung manufactures the entire drive. Even the previous generation 830 will make a huge difference over mechanical storage. If your machine has plenty of memory an 840 evo would be best in a laptop.
