    Interesting idea- just so I'm clear, you use this on aluminum? If the angle aren't too great you might use a flap wheel.

    Yes my experience with grinding disc's flap wheels ect is the amount of foreign matter they leave on the material, Next to a Stainless steel brush the carbide tool is the best way i have found to clean up aluminum for welding. My cutoff saw has a Non Ferous saw blade in it and leaves a clean cut that just requires acetone.
