This new unit has the AC frequency and Balance range of the PowerPro 256 at 20-250Hz and 10-90% cleaning.
It also has downslope, and post flow control.
Output for TIG is 160 amps, Stick 130 amps, and Plasma at 40 amps (s-45 torch).
This unit is ALSO DUAL voltage, which puts out a maximum on TIG of 125 amps, Stick 90 amps, and Plasma 25 amps when operated on 110V.
Duty cycle for all function on all voltages is 60%.
It also includes a fixed 1 and 25 Hz pulse.

Wooowee that's a great price for a combo unit. That really lowers the barrier of entry for someone who wants some good metal working hardware.

Looks like a nice machine, suitable for 80%+ of the hobbyists out there.

I think on 220volts, this is probably all most people would ever need in the shop or on a smallish generator.

A littler more power would be all I could think of for me. But for a first machine, I agree not many will ever upgrade other than to possible get a MIG.

It has 99% of what one would want in a machine. AC/DC (welds steel and aluminum), 1-25-NO pulse (timing, arc focus, and straight on welding), down slope and post flow (to get that perfect end of the bead).

Best of all, simple to setup (not a ton of knobs to set) and it can run on 110volts too.

If I didn't have a 250EX and 210EXT I would probably get one. And I might just for the TIG/stick portability with plasma (lower power under 30 amps for a generator), stick to weld in the wind outside (no gas required to lug around), it will CUT and for mobile TIG jobs.

I've not look on the website. Mark, are the foot pedal and flow gauge included or optional?

The reduction in knobs will make for less confusion for those starting out, and yet still keeping a few extras that can come in handy.
I guess the fixed pulse falls into that category, in a way. Do you know what the other settings are fixed at? 50% on time 50% background amps, perhaps?
I tried to find out on the website, but it doesn't appear to be posted up, yet.
That is a great price for all you get with this machine, and I bet it's pretty compact and light as well.

When working this up, the factory had given us an option of a smaller unit, that was 110V only, and offered less features...but somehow, it just didn't seem right, so we came back to them with this design, that gave more features, and more amperage on dual voltage. It's in a larger case than it would have been originally, but I think it's a good entry level product, and even has the potential of outselling the other units because of the added 110 Capability. I also imagine that this unit will prove to be the most reliable yet in the multi tig/stick/plasma line yet.

I think there would have been a lot of unhappy customers if they purchased a 110V only machine. It would limit their ability pretty quickly once they got out the "starting out" phase. This is especially true for those out there who think they can do everything under 110v or is running a line voltage that is less than normal and connecting with a 100 foot extension cord ...

I have one of these new welders. I've done some stick welding so far and it is way better than my 110v Harbor Freight inverter. It has a nema 6-50 plug attached and the included 110 adapter plugs into that.

For TIG you will need 3/32nd tungsten to use it out of the box. I had some 1/16 but the torch only comes with 2.4 mm parts. So i'l need to pickup some smaller collets and some bigger tungsten so i can try both sizes.
