When working this up, the factory had given us an option of a smaller unit, that was 110V only, and offered less features...but somehow, it just didn't seem right, so we came back to them with this design, that gave more features, and more amperage on dual voltage. It's in a larger case than it would have been originally, but I think it's a good entry level product, and even has the potential of outselling the other units because of the added 110 Capability. I also imagine that this unit will prove to be the most reliable yet in the multi tig/stick/plasma line yet.

I think there would have been a lot of unhappy customers if they purchased a 110V only machine. It would limit their ability pretty quickly once they got out the "starting out" phase. This is especially true for those out there who think they can do everything under 110v or is running a line voltage that is less than normal and connecting with a 100 foot extension cord ...
