But apparently he was concerned more about wheel bearings and axles than a fuel tank mounted in the fire wall......

My first 2 cars were Corvairs! Great cars. I remember someone also made a kit to put the pancake 6 Covair engine in to a Bug. They would really fly with that set up.

I use to work with a guy that worked for ED ROTH doing his drivetrain and engine work on his custom cars. He had a corvair repair shop in the 70 we use to put v8 engines in them lol He had a cool 63 corvair with a 348 chevy engine in the rear of the car ran through a boat v drive unit back to the rear end it was cool , we did a 65 convertible with a 389 pontiac engine with try power that sat mid center in the car you sat in the back seat to drive it .

The 63 sounds like it would be a little light in the front end but easy to pull the wheels off the ground.
