I didn't see anyone respond to your comment about not needing a laptop.

If you use Mach software to drive the table, it needs to have a parallel printer port. Laptops don't have parallel printer ports on them. And, you can't use a USB to parallel port because they are too slow.

There are some third party solutions (SmoothStepper, etc) - but they are more invovled and more money. Best case is if you have an old XP system laying around.
