Simple metal art dogs. Just for fun

My brother made my grandmother a metal dog for Christmas last year, she loved it. I do not have the final painted one and it has a Miami Dolphin sweater on it. She's a big fan. It looked cool though. I will see if I can get a final picture of it. Am sure he must have taken a picture.

But here are three he did. People love them, but no one wants to pay for them. They are simple to make. I know my Dad and him had fun doing them. He is the only one in the family that does not weld, so we had to start him on something fun.

Very neat! I'd love to get into metal art but I've got very little imagination for things like that. I do well with practical design but not little flights of fancy. I'm hoping my wife can help me out in coming up with ideas.

Just go out into the shop start rummaging through scraps and see what fits together ... it's a skill you will develop as you do it.

I intend to start doing that very soon. Have to get a welding station set up first.

I found a piece of 1/8" plate and put it on top of an old workmate table then attached a vise with another plate w/ a 90 degree angle that I set in the vise for smaller work pieces then I put painted skirting around to protect the wood ... works awesome.

I've got some old bedframes and a bakers rack shelf I'm going to use for a bench. I just need some time to cut the metal and assemble it.
