Thread: WP 26 Torch best replacement?

  1. Default

I use my WP26 for welding over 150 Amp. I got rid of that heavy plastic cover and used a braided one I got from McMaster. Its a big difference how much lighter it is and more flexible with the braided covering. For anything less than 150 amp I use my new CK1512 with a flex head, ultra flex cable, and I can use the same consumables used in the WP26 torch. If your working on the bench I find it helpful to hang the cable so its not weighing you down.

I also have the WP26 that came with my 200DX and actually don't mind it at all. The hose however like you is what I do not like. I have replaced it with a CK Series 2 Flex-Loc (WP-9) with super-flex hose. It as a matter of fact should be here today. I am going to be welding turbo manifold so the smaller torch is what I would need to make my life easier. The cable is also a huge plus as well. I plan to use the WP26 when I have to do thicker material but have a feeling it will not be used all the often. I also do not plan on getting a switch for the new Flex-loc I have coming in. If I need to use a switch somewhere, Ill just pull out the 26.

I noticed the Chuck Norris of welding, Jody Collier, uses our big-ole torch quite often. Must be a real man. Me too. He did swap out the cup parts, but hey.

They say (I know, who is "they"?) when the space jumper and his balloon got to the capsule. Chuck Norris was sitting inside waiting on him.

Well, Jody was outside finishing the welding on it.

The site Mark linked too would be a little darker and have T-shirts and deals on TIG fingers too.

I orderd the stubby kit Jody recomended for the WP26 torch. Much easier on the funds at this point than ordering another torch. If I do end up getting another torch, I'll get one that uses the same consumables as the WP26.

Always a way around things when on a budget. And this time of year things are normally tight. Can you share the part numbers you picked up so others that might be interested? And where you got them, weldingcity, river, etc.?
