Same fan setup generally as most 250EX and 60S.
MTS has a different fan setup...lower duty cycle as well.

At this point I am too anxious to worry about the fan noise. Also getting close to pushing off my project for ~6 months as I am running out of time waiting for the machine. The updates are looking good though![]()

DeWalt Hand Tools/ChopSaw
Measured the decibel level, on my Samsung Galaxy with one of the better recommended (as accurate) android apps. This was in my shop with hard walls, 11 foot ceiling etc.
I took a bench mark measurement, which included cars passing on the road @approx 150 ft away, with the shop doors down just for a frame of reference. Then I took it at the back in the middle of the fan area at one inch, then from the front at 1 ft, 3 ft, 5 ft, 10 ft. I then took a side measurement at 5 ft. All measurements were about three feet off the floor, the same height as the welder.
Benchmark: 31 dB
At the fan 1": 86 dB
At 1ft in front: 74dB
At 3 ft in front: 71dB
At 5 ft in front: 70 dB
At 10 ft in front: 68 dB
At 5 ft on side: 70 dB
The phone gave me approximate equivalents of what each dB level meant, and I confirmed it as fairly accurate via other online sources.
30-40dB Quiet whisper at 3ft...library level
60-70dB Normal conversation at 3 ft.
70-80 dB Busy traffic, phone ring tone
80-90 dB Busy Street, Alarm clock
Keep in mind that 3 or 4 decibels makes a significant difference in the loudness. Some of you tech experts on noise, and sound can chime in...and tell me why this is/isn't right.
