NEW 2013 EVERLAST PowerTIG 185 ACDC TIG / STICK WELDER

Guys we are announcing new models and updates to old ones, so if you have any questions about the PowerTig 185, ask away. Basic specs existing specs are unchanged, but as you can see, we've added few features.

The AC frequency and balance adjustments (and range) are being retained from last years model (although the model pictured shows 30-70% AC balance it is back to the old specs on production units). We have added a 150 amp stick function and for TIG we have added lift start and post flow control. This will address the most the most requested features we have had from customers. Overall layout and design is improved. The PowerTIG 185 has dropped the Micro name in favor of just the “Power TIG 185”, though it is still the same size. The welder is available in dual voltage as well. And of course the internals continue to be refined each year.

Wondering what my machine is worth after 3 mo's of use, i see the old 185's are down to approx $750.00, I was hoping a 3 month old machine with a pedal would bring $650.00 -$700.00. Any thoughts on value ??

you should get 700-750$ easy 110/220 version and with a pedal

you may see some older ones with 220v and no pedal dell for around 750$

My machine says on rear it is 1 x 110/220

Yes, they can make one up for it. It's 22k.

Same as it was. It's an economical machine. Those features cost considerably more to put into the machine and require more space.

The 185 is looking better and better as a choice to use my Green Bucks on. My Race Trailer wouldn't know what to do if it gets tig welding capability in one of its cabinets...

It's a competent machine, that's for sure. Some people want every machine to have every feature...but that's the part of niche marketing that not every one understands. A lot of people don't want everything, and don't want to pay for it if they aren't going to use it...That's why we have different machines with different performance levels and features. It's worked for us so far. The People that need more than what the 185 provides will buy a 200DX. The ones that don't want a lot of "confusion" with controls, typically don't need as much power either...so they buy the 185...Otherwise we'd only offer the 250EX.

Is there already a generator in one of the cabinets?! I'm sure you'd be the envy of the pit crews if you had mobile TIG capabilities, and I'm sure you'd be able to solve problems that no one else could solve.

The guys I pit with have adequate generators. Mostly Generac stuff. (one of them has the 17.5KW unit). I have a small generator but I wouldn't use it on that.

I have a 200DX in teh garage, but a 185 with a small bottle or argon may be good for those times when the bike would have to go into the trailer for the weekend otherwise. One of those times would pay for it, especially since it would be essentially free thanks to contest winnings.

That could sure save your weekend, what with hours and hours of driving, possibly staying overnight, etc. Plus I'm sure race day is something you look forward to and plan on for weeks in advance. Do the competitors at these races help each other out with mechanical problems?

For the most part we help each other. Obviously we each have to deal with our own issues first, but I've worked with others to change engines on their bikes on Saturday night before in preparation for racing on Sunday. Break the engine in in the burnout box and give it hell down the track.

OK, I was simply asking a question since the updates of the product line are so frequent. I'm setting up a home shop and some of what I'm doing is fixing small aluminum castings. Determining if the 185 or 200 is better for my purposes. I've already decided on a SSC pedal, so the 185 is actually an advantage there, but I'm trying to figure if low end control(by the user:me) is going to be an issue. As we say in the USMC, no need to fire the FPF S/F.....Ken M

Updates aren't so frequent as it seems, honestly.

The Power i MIG line hasn't been updated since we introduced it in early/mid 2009. One New model, yes, but no changes except minor additions of stick function and spool gun on 250.
The PowerPro line hasn't really been updated. The 256 has remained the same in features and arrangement since 2009 (late). And the 205 received only one major change since then.
The PowerTig 250 EX and 225LX have been unchanged since they came out, externally.
The PowerTIG 185 has been unchanged since it came out.
The i TIG had one change in 2010.
The PowerUltras are essentially the same with the addition of pulse this year.
PowerPlasmas have been relatively the same externally, with only the change (until now) with the front torch connector.

Along the way we've added a few models, and dropped a few, but the changes we have made in the line, at least externally have been relatively small.
The only unit line we have introduced that has undergone major change is the MTS series...but it was out for 2 years before we made any.

But we are due for some changes and resharpening of the appearance of the units.

What I recall is this from the last year or so. Obviously, I'm focusing on what was important to me:

Added 160STH model vs the basic 160 amp stick unit, big benefit to me.
Pedal change on 200DX, now 115/230 dual voltage also.
185 added dual voltage a little while ago(yr or so?), now adding stick and post flow adjustments.
