Default Project 4 from ShaneJackson: Category Off Road - mounting bracket for trailer jack

I actually did this project on Sept 19, the second day I had my Supercut 50P.

I used my PA140ST in TIG mode and SuperCut 50P. I was using a 3/32 2% thoriated with a #5 cap. Amperage was 140. Filler rod was a 1/16 ER70S2. The metal used was 6x4x.250 brick lentil.

I used a piece of aluminum as a guide to cut the lentil. Amps were at 50 and pressure was approx 60. Cut like butter. I then changed caps for one without the guide and freehand cut at a 45 (just because it was thicker.... ) It measured .58 - .59 thick. I then used the plasma cutter to mark the holes and then drilled them on the press. All this drag tipping at 50 amps took a tole on the consumables... I then set the 140 at max and tacked the plate on. Once everthing looked good, welded top and bottom.

I haven't had time to paint the bracket yet so it is already starting to rust.

This was a easy project and didn't take long at all thanks to the SuperCut 50P. I am very happy with the results.

Think angle iron (although some are tee shaped). Lintel is used to support bricks across window or door openings.
Long arc, short arc, heliarc and in-the-dark!

Yep it is basically angle iron. Only reason I used it on this is.... well it's what I had.
