Group buy: .023 drive rolls for IMIG machines

Recently there have been some posts talking about using .023 drive rolls in IMIG machines. IMIG owners know the machine’s smallest wire capacity is .030; I’d like to see if a .023 drive roll will work. There is a U.S. supplier with these rolls here:

They sell for $18.20 each, but their minimum order is $50 not including shipping… so rather than load up on equipment that I don’t need (to meet the minimum purchase) I’m proposing a group buy to meet the purchase minimum and possibly expand the capability of your machine. Basically, this is a “will it work” gamble.

I’ve thought about the expenses involved, and it winds up being the cost of each roll, shipping from the vendor to me, then shipping to you, if you join. Each roll is $18.20, the vendor tells me that shipping is the UPS cost plus $4.50 handling, for a total of about $16.50. Since the rolls are about 1 ounce (I weighed mine this morning) I’m guessing U.S. first class mail plus the cost of a bubble wrap envelope to be about $2.50.

As far as expenses go, the unknown is the vendor’s shipping cost: if three guys join shipping could be as much as $5, so the max price would be $25.50, less if more people join.

Here’s my promise to anyone that joins: I’m not in this to make money, and I’ll ship as quickly as possible once I get rolls from the vendor. I’m doing this to share the Everlast joy- so for that reason I’d like to step out of the equation after shipping to you. I’ll provide a copy of the purchase documentation to all participants, and I wouldn’t leave anybody hanging, but I’d suggest that any subsequent communication with the vendor would be on your terms. My original thought was to keep this within the US for ease of mailing; instead anyone can play if you’re willing to pay actual postage from the US.

What's the cost to me. Just checked the 205P and IMIG200, looks like the same drive assembly, pulled the IMIG200 (since it is doing aluminum spool gun these days and no wire in it).

ID=22mm OD=30mm width=10mm, key was like 4.1mm but close enough. Wish it was a .023 and .040, and I know we have a little speed issue on the .023 per Mark.

If under $25 or $30, count me in for one if you have paypal (and my kids have not broke my paypal account ). Also, mine weighted in at .85 oz. So not much there in weight.

Don't forget paypal has a charge in there that will come from your end, so add for that too.

Count me in. Did ROd ever say weather is worked well or not. I think he said he bought one. Come to think of it, have not see Rod on for a bit?

If you look on eBay UK you will find a variety of drive rollers for MIG machines but no one in the US seems to carry these in stock.

X83, I saw that UK piece altho I didn't see the options. I was a little concerned about the exchange rate, and the cost and timeliness of shipping from the UK.

I just purchased some replacement blue, red, yellow Teflonliners for my mig gun and had them within twelve days form the UK.

The exchange rate is for one pound is around $1.62 USD so that drive roller would be $27.55 USD plus shipping cost.
