Thread: John Deere Gator Cargo Bed Lift Under $75.00

Default John Deere Gator Cargo Bed Lift Under $75.00

Here are a few pics of the cargo bed lift i built with the repaired actuator, I used an ATV Winch solenoid to apply the forward and reverse power $29.95 shipped, i did break down and get the Deere Up Down Switch with the bed logo's on it ( So everyone knows what the switch is for) $23.00 I had a 2 foot piece of 2x2x3/16 angle for the mount and one 22" piece of 3" channel for the main lift beam.Cut the angles down to 3/4"x2 with the plasma drilled a couple of holes. Fitted these to the bed and tacked the channel to them took some measurements drilled the top actuator pin hole. Did a test fit welded it w my Millermatic 200
added a little paint wiring and it worked just fine (Deere has generic wiring on most things and a lot of wires are right there to use) , Better than my cost at Deere of $642.00 plus install.

What did the actuator run you? I have a couple small ones, this gives me an idea for the golf cart. Where the 6 adults empty or full of liquid?

The actuator was free,Some of the people ( friends and Family )were full of liquid and Fish, we tried the new cooker. They all got in and raised it a little ,that is all i would do. It will handle a 1200 pound diminishing load with no problem. That is more than the gator needs. I actually changed the top lift point about and inch which gave it more power. It looked like Deere ran there's about an inch lower which would decrease the initial lift power. These actuators are used for Snow plows, satellite dishes wheel chair lifts ect.The design is a basic one we used on 1 ton trucks with 10-12' beds and a direct push hoist.

Too funny. Well you save a good chunk of change for sure.

I had a bigger one (called moon raker I think) off a big K band sat dish, but gave it away to a friend, ended up on his bobcat trailer to lit it up and down. He is 72 years if age, so that helps him out.
