Default pedal issue is fixed!!! now Im really a tigging!!!

Hi all! I just got the replacement CD4053 chip and all is great! I was getting tired of using the torch switch although it was good practice. Thanks Ray and Oleg for the help!

On another subject, when my electric motor get here, im going to post my water cooler build. Even with a new procon pump and buying a motor off of ebay, I shouldn't have over 100 dollars invested in it.

    Stay tuned!

Hey, great news, welderdude! It's like a whole new machine again. Looking forward to seeing what you are doing with your water cooler. Cheers!
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

Its definitely different. Trying to make aluminum beads with just up/down slope really helped me learn how to control the heat with just speed and the filler rod. Now I'm trying to get a custom to the pedal. Its only the second time I have had used a Tig with a pedal. I pretty much learned with scratch start. The HF start is also something I now wont be able to live with out. I love it too much!

As for the cooler, I plan on using a heater core I had laying around to keep things cool. Im going to couple a fan to the motor shaft instead of using a separate electric fan to keep things simple. here is the link to the pump im using. You cant beat 30 dollars shipped for a new Procon pump!

The only thing I need is a relief valve because this pump will do 170 psi! It will blow out my torch!

if using a used heater core make sure you acid flush it there the worst for collecting crap in them , dont want to get crap in your torch hoses. on the water pump under the cap there is a adjustment for water pressure. i use the same pump for my tig cooler. i used a transmission cooler for my cooler

That pump has a built in relief valve. You just need to adjust it to what you want.

@ Rodsmachineshop: Thats a good point. I might just use some CLR to flush it out. I have flushed it with water both ways though. I might even get an in-line filter to put right before the torch if I can find the right one.

@ Rambozo: That is true. Hopefully I can adjust it down to 50 or so psi. It will keep it even simpler.

One of these will give you an extra bit of protection. Especially nice if your water cooler doesn't power on with your welder.

Next torch I get I'll be using one for sure.

For thirty bucks, you can get a brand new heater core from a crown vic. Why deal with cleaning out an old core when you risk frying up a torch that costs about 130 bucks.
