    I really like this idea. By extension, maybe have something that can slide horizontally (but not too easily, of course) as an addition?
    Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

    do like i do a nylon strap a wheel caster to my wrist since it rolls lol wow just thinking not a bad though a platform to rest your wrist that rolls then could keep the rite distance when tiging

    Just thinking of an variation on 7FC_Driver's great idea of the "adjustable steady rest". Made me think of something like a ball bearing drawer glide moving in parallel to the bead you want to lay for the times you want to a straight weld.
