The PowerArc 200 doesn't have arcforce settings,,,it is adaptive,,,you must mean amp settings,,,,try 50 to 60 amps for that size of rod and remember it's not a drag rod like 7014 it has a longer arc gap (dist from rod to metal) slightly greater than 1/8 inch once the arc is struck,,,,that's why they make scrap iron so you can play and practice on pieces until a fellow gets a feeling for different new rods...hope this helps you

I'm saving up for my first welder. Don't have a lot of experience - will be self-taught! I'm looking at entry-level welders so they won't have user-adjustable arc force settings. Is this feature something I should be seriously considering or will adaptive arc force be "good enough"? The jump is pretty big $-wise. Well, for me it is anyways.
