Started building some rocksliders for a friend/customer today for his 88' Toyota 4runner, figured they would be a great project to post pictures of.

They are pretty easy to make, more time consuming than anything with notching tubes, and bending the outer tube. I am not going to post any exact measurements, because if someone decides to make some, they are going to be a 'custom' size anyways. The straight tube on these is 62" long. The tubing is 1.75" .120 DOM.

Here you can see that where I welded the legs that attach to the frame on the tubes, it actually bowed the tubes pretty far. Not enough to notice unless you put it next to a straightedge though.





I'll have some more pictures tomorrow after I get them welded on to the 4runner.

Do you weld these on or will you make brackets to bolt them on?

How are you bending the tubing?

Nice set of rock sliders.

i'm itching to get back into custom off road fab work. hopefully in the next couple of weeks ill be doing a high clearance t-case mount and some bumpers for one of my cousins.

They will be welded on. I will also be adding a 4th mounting leg, but it is longer than the rest so i have to wait until i get them tacked on to measure for it.

As for bending, i have a TubeTek bender. It works and was cheap, but i would not reccomend one to anyone (not that the owner would answer the phone to sell you one).

Finished them yesterday, keep an eye out for alot more work being done to this 4runner over the next few months!

Those look good and it looks like they hug the body real close. I'm contemplating building some for my Samurai but thinking about square tube. Have you ever done any square tube rocksliders?
