Here is an example of what you should see with no THC voltage control or a manual mode setup. The torch moves down to touch the metal and find zero, it will need either a position switch, or more typically it will sense this with the THC by direct connection of the tip to the metal. This will send a trigger signal to Mach to set zero. Then the torch will rise to pierce height, start the arc, time out for the pierce, then move to cut height and start the cut. It should repeat this for each cut start to account for the metal no being perfectly flat. Note that this will only work for pretty short cuts as the metal may not be aligned with the axis, but it works fine for small things. The torch does not need to raise as high between cuts as this one is, but it helps if you expect possible tip ups.

I still have not had any time! I'm getting ready to move back home starting late this week. I had a couple of days planned out, but our baby sitter was sick and I was on baby duty. I've been helping a friend out all last week and all this week. I need to check the voltage coming out of the CNC port. I also may have the + and - wires switched on the THC.

    This guy has his going.

Absolutely none! About two weeks ago I had some time to work on it a little. When I moved the table I kinked some two of my motor cables. I've decided to sell all my parts and table. I've not had the time to work on my table at all. I started back working in structural steel in March, and throw in some work for myself; I have not had the time.

If you think you have no time now,,wait until you get my age,,,buying green fruit is an overly optimistic view of life,,,all in all,,,that was a big project you under took,,,has one hellva steep learning curve just on the programing side...A lot of folks would like to know your hindsite view as to construction or buying something in a box ready built,,,,my own table is a 2X2,,,paid 2 grand for it when they first came out,,,would like THC ,,, but haven't got around to it,,,too many other irons in the fire so to speak...Nobody has enough time to endulge themselfs in hobbies when there are bills to pay and a family to support..been there done that and don't want to do again...I admire your efforts Sean..

After trying to sell my table and getting all types of offers I decided to keep it. I just about to finance another table and decided to keep it. There was not much money left to spend on my CNC to get it ready, but I decided to make some changes. I cut the table down to a 5x5 cutting area. I sent my controls back to Probotix because I damaged some cables when I moved in February. Probotix incorporated my THC into the controller for me, fixed the cables, and also added some limit switches for me. Time was a big issue and that's why I sent my controller back. I am also going to replace the 2x2 mild steel tubing with 2x2 aluminum tubing. Changing to aluminum rails was a huge difference! There is significantly less drag with aluminum tubing. I lowered the table 6 inches and added 3/4" threaded rod to the feet for adjustment. When I finished cutting the table apart I sat back and immediately felt that a 5x5 is the perfect size table. I'm short on space like many people, and a 5x5 table will work perfect for me.

This is after I cut the table down a couple of weeks ago.

I decided to lower the height of my rails.

You sure don't have a lot of room to work in there it will be nice to see it working when you have finished.

Good to see you've got something in mind that is going to work for you. I can't wait to see it in action when you are done.
