Thread: Project #5 Home Made Scrolling Wrench

Default Project #5 Home Made Scrolling Wrench

I had some scrap left over after making my Broadfork. The 1/2 by 14" Cold rolled piece was from the scrap yard and one end already had two flat surfaces machined into it. this made it easier to weld a couple of 1.25" inch pieces of scrap to. After boogering up the weld, I clamped it in a vice and tried to eyeball a simple scroll.

I am sure I would get better if I had a bigger project, well actually I would make a jig for a bigger project but it's a handy tool to adjust a scroll to fit a space in a gate or fence.

That's a cool tool. What is the diameter of the stock? I have made something similar for wrenching on pipe flanges. Ill post about it tomorrow when I get to work.

its just 1/2" inch it should be good enough to bend 1/8" by up to one inch stock without any heat. you could do narrower 3/16" as well. the stuff I used in the pics is just 1/8" by 1/2" and it bent extremely easily.

Pretty neat tool. I don't know what a scrolling wrench is for, but it still looks cool.

It makes those scroll bends in the flat bar. Used on decorative railing. you put the fork end over the bar and bend.

I swoon every time I see the Eisenkraft in action.

I would love to build one if I could only find one of those elusive round tuits.

Getting round tuits, seems to be a real problem, especially when you get older, just not enough hours in the day to get a round tuit.

OH! Haha. I thought that was part of what you were showcasing, not what it was for.

    Very cool.
