POWER PRO 205 Quick disconnect to switch from compressed air to argon

Hello, I have the power pro 205 and I am currently using quick disconnects in order to shwitch over from compressed air to argon. The quick disconnects get line drop pretty bad and I have tried everything to stop it.

Has anyone used a three way manifold with shut off valves instead of the quick disconnects?? I am looking to get one to replace the quick disconnects but I cant find.

At one time I thought this would ge a good idea but it was pointed out by another member it would be real easy to turn wrong valve and bang your argon regulator with high pressure air and that would be a bad thing almost as bad as letting the black smoke come out of your machine that is really bad lol

The valved manifold is a great idea if you include check valves on both input lines. That way if you accidentally open both valves at once, nothing can back feed.

A three way valve with one control point. Meaining not two shut off valves just one and its either set to the compressed air side or the argon side, no options to have both at same time. I know they exsist, seen them before just cant find one now.

If you're feeding the pressure regulator on the welder with 80psi you should be able to maintain 60psi at the torch. You could bump the line pressure to 85psi if need be.
I don't have any problems with the pp256 or the pp60 running QCs from a 100' hose reel.

I use two shutoff valves and a tee. I think it is a better idea than quick connects.

Hey, I am also trying to find a source for these quick disconnects. I need to adapt torches and other cutters I have in the shop. If EVERLAST would be so kind to provide a designation / type-number / source for these?
And in the meantime: They look like you can drill them up a little bit -to improve the flow-rate.

The connectors talked about here are just standard automotive connectors. We do not supply these.

FTR, I have used the manifold, and actually recommend it. I don't like to see the quick connect used at the argon side.

During decompressing, and hooking, and unhooking, moisture is introduced at the site of the fitting. As we know, moisture is not our friend, even in small amounts.

Standard or not, I have not seen them before. I do not work on cars, so chances are good that I will learn something new. Nothing in life is standard until you learn about it.
Sure I know the 1/4" standard air quick disconnects - but these on the Everlast units are smaller. The male plug is exactly 9mm OD.

Again - some pointers where to get them??? I have been up and down Ebay, / no luck.

This is not the type of quick connects being discussed here.

If you are looking for the Everlast quick connects for the front end, we sell the male couplers. They are also sold by welding direct and arc zone. These are also found on other brand water coolers, and for gas couplers on other brandes. Female are offered only as warranty parts from us.

My line drop problem doesn’t change the PSI on the TIG torch or the Plasma cutter, but it is wasting Argon. I figured the manifold would be more air tight than the quick disconnects. I don’t know what all this talk is about the quick disconnects. I would not recommend them. You can get them at Lowes or Home Depot in the air compressor section. Too many parts screwed together. Too much plumbers tape and fittings to prevent line drop. It won’t affect your welding but you will waste Argon.

Back to the original question. Where can I find the manifold with the shut off valves? Please reply with a link to the product and share with everyone. Thanks

I don’t want to part anything together. A self contained manifold. Not a bunch of parts screwed together to make a manifold. I don’t want a T valve with a bunch of stuff connected to it. One piece, air tight, no line drop.

Quick disconnects are available with a larger inside diameter Most automotive styles are set up for 3/8" hose. The inside diameter is only about a 1/4" on the male fitting. Get the ones set up for 1/2" hose, then use common pipe bushing adapters to get it to the size hose that you have.

There is absolutely no issues using a Quick connect in regards to having moisture enter the lines. After all we are talking a Multi -Process unit that uses compressed air . As the plasma and tig function share the same lines / solenoid you are introducing a lot higher percentage of moisture in the system even with a Dryer inline than simply connecting and disconnecting a Quick release .

I went to home depot today and picked up some quick disconnects with a larger inside diameter. They are Husky sku 412 721. The package comes with a couple of males and a female, along with some pipe fittings for about $10.

I`ve got the same set up as Zoama. no problem so far and the nice part is if i have to move the machine for cutting to another building or location i don`t have to lug around the argon regulator, with the yap style you would have to.
