Default Sean Murphy Project 1 - Header repair for a dirt late model

My best friend runs a Nesmith Dirt Late Model. This is a GM crate motor series. He wanted to race really bad and borrowed an old set of headers. They were cracked pretty good and very rusty. This was a I just want to race tonight fix. These headers had been raced for 3 years by another friend, and needless to say we picked them out of the scrap pile. I did a little grinding, but not a major cleanup these headers were thin!

Real tough to weld old headers after they been heated and cooled a thousand times get real thin. What size wire did you use and what gas flow did you use? Good job for what you had to work with.

    Not bad at all.
I am in the middle of building a set of headers for my S10.
    I'm putting a 598 BigBlock in it.
I've built 2 others BigBlock S10's but, I'm not going to pay 1200.00 for a set of headers again.

I saw this online don't know if it will help http://www.summitracing.com/expertad...ustom-Headers/ Also have seen plastic mock up like round legos in Hot Rod magazine but can't find the maker of these I will look for it and post it when I find it and I thought $699 was bad for a set of TTI headers.

If I were going to build a set I would copy a tri-y design. There's a guy in Alabama who has a company Rapture Carburetor, and he came up with the design/idea. He was some type of industrial carburetor specialist who fell into the racing deal on accident. Started building headers and put them on while engines where on the dyno. Literally kept trying different things until he got the numbers he wanted. A friend purchased a set of his headers and a carb; it literally woke the engine up!
