Thread: Some pictures from Factory

  1. Default

I was able to pass on the Snake for lunch but was stuck with the Soul of the Fish. Aparently the head is the soul of the fish Yummy.

We have added some stricter guidelines for more visual inspections . This has just been put in place recently to add more personall acountability to each work station hence the rather bulky full scap paper being used for the initial run. The pertanent infromation is on there and it is Billingual so i can keep tabs on it as well ( this will be changed to the cardboard tab for later orders). These do not overide the other procedures we have been working on but rather they compliment and hopefully improve upon them.

Here is the Moat around the Factory it actually only goes around 2 sides , the front Pictured both ways from the main gate and along the main road where you can see the curve as it makes the bend

The cheeks from the fish head are supposed to be quite tender and tasty. Some like the eyeballs ....
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

Clearly I'm not a fish connoisseur. I prefer the flesh from the fish body more than the cheek. Smoked salmon is nice. Sashimi is starting to grow on me. Gosh, I'm hungry! Dinner time ....

The first checks are done using scopes the actual testing starts with Load testing this normally takes around 1/2 hour on the Load banks. then it can be moved to the first round of testing. All functions are checked with cover off and then final testing is done with cover on and then packed. For those of you with Plasma function you will see the tips have been used , you can see in one of the pictures the units along with the corresponding number of torches waiting for the final cutting function using the supplied torch.
I think i have some pictures on here showing the work stations for testing with the scopes and actual outputs, and in fact i probably have pictures showing testing somewhere on the Forum. It is pretty boring really and not much to look at. I know it makes for long days for me .

The new CNC table arrived the other week and i need to post pictures of that. It is obviously being used to run the CNC plasma functions as the old table is well worn to say the least. But in addition to this the Factory is showing some interest in the design and possible application of developing something to go hand in hand with the current line up of Plasma Cutters .

As for the Fish i prefer Salmon. With Snake i have only ever had it in whole pieces with skin on cut up in 3/4" pieces and i do not like the taste at all.I make a point of trying not to make a big deal out of the food i am given, and i never make my hosts feel bad about what they have ordered for me.
My Buddy Paul on the other hand is terrible. Paul is a Aussie and we try to meet up once a year normally in Shanghai or if not then Ningbo. He is terrible for insulting people that take us out for Dinner.
A buddy of ours Zhou ( joe ) Ray ,Oleg I took you guys out for dinner with Joe in Vegas Last year. anyway joe always tries to make sure Paul is happy when he visits he gets steaks because he knows that is what people from the West eat. on more than one occasion Paul has told him the steak is so bad they would not even feed it to the dogs. When he says these things i just cringe. And the thing is he insists on doing this thinking it is all in good fun but poor joe looses face with this every time.
But then again he is Australian so it is what it is i suppose, like drinking the bar dry at the hotel and not letting the Bartender go home that type of thing is fairly normal for Paul.

And to perhaps dispel some preconcieved ideas .
First set of pictures are a couple of shots from the Factory that produce our MTS 160 and 200 welders. I do not have much in the way of dealings with this manufacturer as i am principally involved with our main line of Welders.

first set of photos are from the MTS MIG TIG STICK . My involvement was to basically assess the Manufacturing Enviroment and to arrange a couple of samples to be shipped for assesment. This facility is located in Shanghai in the Pudong area.
the first picture is actually a hight rise Condominium Gated Community with a electrified wire above the brick walls. This was across from my hotel.
    Duncan,
I see another Purple brand of machines in these very first pictures you posted? Are any of these the factories that are producing the 210 EXT? The EXT sure resembles another of the purple brand's machine. Just curious if you could give some insight? Again that would sure help put some of the "misconception" of the Everlast brand's origin behind. So few on the other websites will admit that not everything is made in the US. Thanks.

The 210EXt is a new Factory ' well sort of new we started about 2 years ago when we first made contact and opened discussions with them. This is the only model they produce for us at this time but we may very well add to this in the future.
the world is truly a Global economy and market place even with our components we use numeous parts from US suppliers E.G Fairchilds, IXYS ,Panasonic, etc and European , Japanese
On my search for Welding helmets i have seen ESAB , Lincoln , Jackson and numerous other manufacturers .
I have seen engineers from lincoln where a stick welder is produced for the South American market but the best thing i have come across was on a visit to find a Foundary .
The story starts with a friend of mine who has a Factory in the southern part of China. One Saturday morning he tells me he has received a Sample Aluminum Hawse Fairlead from A US Company ( Smittybilt 4x4 parts ) they sent a Competitors aluminum Hawse fairlead and wanted him to supply it to them . So of we went to visit some S--- hole foundarys to get prices. the owner of the first Foundary was very pleased to have me there as a guest and immediately starts showing me the Bathroom Fixtures they make for a large American Company. He was particulary proud of the fact that his parts had MADE IN USA stamped on them per customers request.
i really doubt anything is 100% produced in any one country anymore .

Another example is consumables I will not buy from any supplier that uses red copper ( chinese made copper and brass)
I know you can go on the internet Ebay etc and get cheap stuff from Chinese sellers and i have even visited some of these places where this stuff is purchased, however our supplier imports all brass and copper from finland as it has a far higher content over the local material
and you are right about the reluctance of many to be completely truthfull in just what is actually produced off shore.
    Cheers

    ....
That's hilarious. Yes, at this point in time, it's the company behind the products that determines whether the product fits its market well and whether its customers are and remain, happy. Where the product is made does not guarantee its quality or fit for use.

It is that time of year again . I had a nice break not being at the Factory over the Summer months but that changes tomorrow because once again i am off to visit the Factory.
The good news is i am only gone for 10 days and will be leaving just before the start of the National 8 day Autumn Festival Holiday starting on the 30th. I plan on being in Shanghai no later than the 26th and while i am hanging out in Shanghai i will visit a new Plasma torch outfit that have been working with a Italian company that supplies O.E.M torches.
The bad news is i miss out on the last week and a half of trout season but i plan on doing a couple of Kayak runs before the end of the season.
    Cheers

I will add more pics later but this place is indoors and is huge with so much undergrowth and different paths you can get lost going to the bathroom. We had lunch on one of the Sanpans floating in the water. Some pictures of the waterfalls and otyher interesting things did not turn out to well but needless to say it was a very unexpected place for mer to end up in.
