It has been a rare problem, but seems like more and more these days. Mark called it first years ago and sure enough we see it on and off. I know Ray has had them as well.
I've had people in Tx and Ca with the problem. Not sure if only AirGas but I know some where.
Not that anyone is going to snort the desiccant or anything but do be mindful of any desiccant dust:

When I was younger, one of my responsibilities at my first full-time job was to replace the desiccant that was used to dry the compressed air for some machinery using air bearings. We needed to dump the desiccant into pyrex trays, microwave them until they were blue again and then dump them back into the canisters for use. I was always a bit leery of the dust and apparently I had reason to be.
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?
