Having the pedal is kinda of a big deal, how do I fix this thing?

    Thanks,

47K. Did you open the pedal, sometimes in shipping, the cog will skip a couple teeth and sometimes the pedal is zip tied close for space and this will ramp the power up if it skips.

You should have 1-2 (switch). 3-4 and 4-5 are the pot. Should be low ohms to 50K on one set and opposites on the other. Check that before changing the pot out.

I did. I was wondering why you repeated yourself!

So the pedal Pot is 47k ohms, what about the front pot that controls the overall amps?

I will just replace both of the pots while I'm in there. The pedal itself works well enough, it's just that the pots suck.

I messed the part where you said you tested the pots. What does the pot do. Never had a back one myself?

There is the pedal pot, and the front overall amp adjust.

I found a broken solder joint on the 3-4 pin, and resolderd it and the pedal works.

The only gripe now is that when the pedal is plugged in the is no way to know how many amps you have, which totally matters.

    Any ideas?

You can set the max amps on the display (on most units). You want to watch the melted weld pool to know when you need more or less amps.

The display says 25 amps max with the pedal plugged, in and the pedal amp control pinned.

And did you just tell me to "Watch" the weld pool on my new $1000 PowerTIG? What is the display for then?

I'm not the only person wrestling with this problem.
